The recently ratified AEA contract by the Anchorage School Board on Monday, December 17 has opened a Special Open Enrollment period for AEA members. If you are currently enrolled in the Public Education Health Trust and wish to maintain your current coverage, there is no action required.
You have two options during this Special Open Enrollment period:
All changes made during this Special Open Enrollment period will be effective on January 1, 2019.
If you are currently enrolled and wish to change your plan design selection offered by your Association, you will need to complete a new enrollment form and submit to the Trust office no later than January 16, 2019. List the dependents on the enrollment form for whom you wish to provide coverage. If they are currently enrolled, no additional documentation is required, however you will need to place their names on the enrollment form, confirming you wish to continue providing them coverage. If you are adding dependents who are not currently enrolled, you must include verification they are an eligible dependent (i.e. marriage or birth certificate, etc.) Please contact either the Trust or your human resource department for options. Necessary forms may be found on the Trust’s website at www.pehtak.com.
The Trust recommends that you review your dependents listed to ensure accuracy. With appropriate documentation the Trust provides coverage for spouses, qualified domestic partners, children up to the age of 26, and individuals for whom you are the legal guardian up to their age of 18. If you are currently waived off the plan, there is no opportunity to enroll for coverage at this time. If you are currently enrolled, there is no opportunity to waive coverage at this time.
The next full Open Enrollment period which will allow you to enroll for coverage without a Qualifying Event, or to waive coverage without a Qualifying Event, will occur May 1 – June 15, 2019.
Please fax your forms and accompanying documents to the Trust’s secure fax at 907-222-2556. Or feel free to mail the documents to the Public Education Health Trust, 4003 Iowa Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99517. You must be sure to ensure delivery is No Later Than 5:00 p.m., January 16, 2019. Forms not received by this deadline will not be accepted.
